South Florida Thumps West Virginia

Don't call it an upset: South Florida just crushed West Virginia, stifling an offense thought to be unstoppable -- for the second year in a row. The Bulls played really really well. It wasn't that WVU was overrated; it was that USF was SO underrated.

Though they have been a rising team for years, South Florida is officially this season's national Cinderella. Undefeated. Suddenly the team to beat in the Big East. And, at least on my Top 25 ballot, a serious contender to vault from the teens into the Top...5? They sure look like it.

(For West Virginia, any shot at the national title is over. Crazy: West Virginia and Louisville -- the Big East's presumptive "national" contenders -- are done, replaced by South Florida and Rutgers. Lurking as the spoiler -- the "new South Florida," if you will -- is Cincinnati.)

I dont know if you can say USF deserves to be top ten as their offense looked pretty tame, but that defense at least tonite was as good as any in the country. You can tell that USF has fans without a clue as seen by their pathetic attempt at storming the field making off with the goalposts. Kinda pointless as the campus is about 15 miles away and the only thing around Ray-J is strip joints and legends field. Everyone I know back home has said it is crazy in all the hot spots like ybor and at all the bars by USF.

ahhh crap...

Well, we stunk up the joint. I'm actually proud of the way we finished, not giving up, but with that many turnovers there is no chance. I'm sorry too, I wouldn't say USF dominated by any means...but they definitely forced us out of our gameplan, and made us comfortable. It's crazy being such a high echelon team nowadays where 1 loss kills a season but that is what has happened in WVU land in the last 5 years. It's a blessing a curse. it was much less stress being happy with a 9-3 season every year (haha). anyways, congrats to USF on a great defensive game. It looks like a great rivalry in the making and I'm proud to have them in the Big East. As for my boys, let's hope they can pull the season together and get back on track.

USF needs offensive production to be a to 10 team.

So, Shanoff, do I need to add you to the list of people who broke their legs upon landing as they jumped hard off the Mountaineer bandwagon???

If so, it'll put you in high company mostly populated with ESPN Talking Heads.....

*Waits for Dan to proclaim tomorrow "I was right about Oklahoma, just off by one week!", after saying last week he was wrong for picking Tulsa over Oklahoma.*

Fans were storming the field to storm the field. The goal posts came down before the final play, and if anyone was trying to get at them, I must have missed it. If anything, the fans were without a clue for chanting "bullshit" after offsides and pass intereference penalties were declined by WVU, but then again all college crowds I've been around are like to an extant. Give USF fans credit--they're learning.
