Leinart's Week Gets Worse?

I'm trying to decide what's worse for Matt Leinart this week:

Having it come out that he's a "Baby Daddy" with his ex-girlfriend? Or last night's sprained shoulder?

I have yet to see any coverage where he actually talks about his paternity, let alone says that he's enthusiastic about it. That's kind of sketchy. (If you know of any, put it in the comments section.)

He was happy to talk about his shoulder injury, downplaying it:

"An MRI is planned for Friday, but Leinart said the injury was no big deal. He said the shoulder popped out of its socket when he was hit, then back into place as he jogged off the field."

To sum up: His decision to return for his senior year blew his draft stock; he lost his bid for a second Heisman (he wasn't even the best QB in college football); he lost the national-title game (to that other "best QB"); he was the last first-round draft pick to sign, causing no end of agita with the fans; he had an unplanned pregnancy; and, now, he hurt his shoulder.

At this point, it's piling on. (But, giddily, karmic payback is a beeeeeotch.)

Leinart will rebound, though. Certainly his "golden boy" image is long gone but he has plenty of time to get a new rep as a great player. WIll that happen in AZ? We'll see.

Even Ryan Leaf is back in football after all...anything can happen.

I'd even argue that he didn't really deserve the Heisman the year he won it either. Many were saying Bush should have won it that year as well.

However, the way pro sports work, if he wins a few games everyone forgets about everything else.

Look I am actually happy an athlete decided to stay in college one more year. He is getting his tens of millions which will set him up for the rest of his life so what should we care? Plus he has all the skill set needed to be a very successful quarterback so I don't see any karma payback going on.

As far as the baby-daddy thing goes, Willis McGahee has 2 kids by 2 different moms already and he has just gotten engaged I think to a third. Plus after he declared himself the best back in the league he sucked- now that is a karmic beotch!

All I know is, I finally saw a picture of the mommy, and WOW, Matt, you've got to get hooked back with that. Everything will turn out all right then.

Glad you're still writing Dan....I will miss the "Quickie" but it is evident that I will still get a daily dose of your creative style.....Your Blogspot has been "favorite-ed"..... :)

At least he's in Arizona. Can you imagine what it would be like if he had been drafted by the Jets?

"karmic payback?"

For what? Staying in school? Getting a degree? Aren't we supposed to heap praise on people that "do the right thing" and "get an education?"

It surprises me to hear someone intimate that somehow, giving up sure money, top draft status, etc. in order to get a degree (he needed those ballroom dancing credits, right?) caused karma to retaliate, My Name Is Earl-style.

In fact, looking at track records, assume he was drafted last year first overall -- he might be out of football by now with nothing...

Anyway, surprising to say the least.

Seriously - he made a great move by staying... QB of the future with Fitz, Boldin, and Edge on the team...

or, he could have taken crazy punishment in SF last year... and this year... and next year...

It doesn't matter what his choice is/was. Leinart will still only be a serviceable QB for his career. Solid, yet unspectacular. Too many arm issues (even before last night) and less comparitive talent in the NFL (meaning the discrepancy of talent between USC and other schools when he was there).

jake c you're full of shit, you suck. There I said it, its out there. Your constant sucking up to Shammy is disgusting.

Shammy obviously jealous of Leinart. Leinart can play. You guys are just a bunch of jealous sissy boys.

Yay for anonymous posters!

what did Leinart do to get bad karma again? His karma paypack was when that porker Lendale White couldn't gain half a yard to ice the title game, then watching USC defenders flail in their attempt to bring down VY, then watching VY celebrate his title and having to congratulate VY then having VY get drafted 7 spots ahead of him...

I'd say he's paid his karma bill. Also its his non thowing shoulder that's sprained.

anyone who uses their name and location as their name is queer. Get a life. This isn't the your protected MQ environment. You guys are losers.

Loser (Loserville)...population...YOU.

So who else thinks this is Skip Bayless in disguise?

Stick with the roundup style. Reminds me of the Quickie.

Hafner for MVP-just look at the stats, especially compared to the Big Skirt. Pronk beats him in every category (more homers than Thomas has extra base hits).

I like the All in One Wrap Up, its more DQ-esque...not the one topic

Matt Leinart is a dork. Should have worn his rainhat or maybe two.

I saw her pic...she wasn't that great. Even Jessica Simpson's coattail-riding BFF is cuter than baby-mommy.

He'll learn how life changes with a child...or how easy it is to payoff someone.

Tsk, tsk...guess he didn't learn too much more by staying in school that extra year (even though I agree that it was a "good" thing to do)

How's this for karma being a beeeeyotch? Because you're a big douche, Gabe isn't yours.
