NFL, CFB Game Picks: T'giving Edition

Of all the things to be thankful for, sports-wise, during this holiday, there is nothing bigger than the annual tradition of Thanksgiving weekend football. I'm particularly partial to the Lions game on Thanksgiving Day and the slate of college football "rivalry" games. Here are a few picks. (Wednesday A.M. Quickie here, or below.)

NFL Week 12 Picks
Dolphins over Lions
: Thanks for the best NFL tradition.
Cowboys over Bucs: Thanks for Tony Romo.
Broncos over Chiefs: Thanks for LJ.
Falcons over Saints: Thanks for wild NFC South.
Jags over Bills: Thanks for giving me a rooting interest.
Bengals over Browns: Thanks for "Rivalry Week."
49ers over Rams: Thanks for coaching fashion.
Cards over Vikings: Thanks for Leinart jokes.
Jets over Texans: Thanks for 30-something head coaches.
Panthers over Redskins: Thanks for nothing, Dan.
Ravens over Steelers: Thanks for Super Bowl Curse.
Chargers over Raiders: Thanks for LaDainian's talent.
Titans over Giants: Thanks for Vince Young's year.
Pats over Bears: Thanks for the Game of the Year.
Colts over Eagles: Thanks for "Chunky money."
Seahawks over Packers: Thanks for "iron" streaks.

CFB Weekend Picks

5 Arkansas over 9 LSU (Fri.)
11 Texas over TX A/M (Fri.)
23 Nebraska over Colorado (Fri.)
3 USC over 6 Notre Dame

Cowboys over Bucs - they've got a black QB playing.

Clemson has looked awful over the past 4 games. S. Carolina has looked very impressive over the last 4 games.

Most people locally, even many Clemson fans, are suggesting that S. Carolina will likely win, even though Clemson has won 8 of the last 9 in this rivalry.

I can't believe you called Tressel a dandy.

You fop.

And I think Hawaii should be ranked as high as Louisville. If we can get them together, that would be one awesome bowl game.

jimithng -

VA is a state. W VA should clearly identify a state. WVA is the condensed form.

Makes sense to me; I've used a similar notation. It's not a mistake if you know it's not "correct," and you use an alternate form on purpose.

stewart... click on his name and go to his blog. it involves michael irvin saying something stupid.

i was wondering the same thing.

(and personally, i think that with a one liner like that, WR, you should have elaborated a little for us.)

Ok, I'll grant you those things.

I can't remember seeing anybody call DS on it before you did today, though. So maybe he'll see the error of his ways, or maybe he'll continue, just to be a dick (as per his treatment of Michigan this season).

Anyway, I do agree that it looks silly as all capitals. You tell him!

My bad - I thought people would get it. Big Lead has it, and Deadspin picked it up - figured people knew by now.

Is it just me, or does Miami play on Thanksgiving more often than they should? Thinking as far back as I can remember (10 years), I'm pretty sure they've played on Turkey Day four times...and they're not even in the conference of the two Thanksgiving home teams...

are you serious thanks for vince young's year? Wow there is a lot to be thankful for, I mean the guy is completing an astounding 45% of his passes at a rate of under six yards per attempt. Then there is his astounding touchdown to interception ration at 6/8. Just to make him such a better player his rating is at a booming 56.1. Seriously, if Vince Young was not black then none you would not be saying those things about him. Rush Limbaugh was so right when he was fired for saying that the media is dying to have a good black quarterback that they try to make a poor one to be the next Warren Moon. Young is terrible and will be a bust.

COWARD - no upset picks in college football?

I say Syracuse over Rutgers - just because I am going to the game. You think seeing Florida play a IAA team means you are a real fan. Try driving to NJ from Long Island with 4 kids in the car to see your team when they suck worse than they have ever in their 100 year history. Yes, I am a Syracuse fan.

Nice Thurs/Fri picks, Dan. Yeesh...

Well, the UF website is www.ufl.edu, so maybe... you know... I don't know.

If Chris Rock were white, his 10 minute rant in "Bring the Pain" about loving black people but hating "niggas" would have ended his career.

Wasn't there a scene like this in the movie where he was reincarnated as an old white guy?
