Spurs close out Suns: You have until tomorrow to get over any lingering "The Suns were robbed in Game 5!" resentment. It's simply not worth the energy or outrage at this point.
The Spurs advancing isn't particularly good for the NBA, but there's no debate: Of the four teams remaining, they are the clear favorite to win (another) NBA title, extending the already-impressive Duncan Dynasty.
(What next for Phoenix: Spend the offseason teaching their star players not to leave the bench in the event of an on-court scuffle. Aside from that, enjoy what will likely be the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. Is there a designated Spur-killer in the bunch? Al Horford is the closest thing to it, plus he fits amazingly in the Suns' offense.)
Cavs close out Nets: Progress is progress for LeBron. Another year, another step closer to the Finals. I don't expect that Cleveland will be able to give the Pistons as tough of a series as they did a year ago.
(What next for New Jersey: What to do about the Big Three. I'd let Vince Carter go, ideally in a sign-and-trade. If they want to make one more run, I'd keep Jason Kidd, given his performance in the playoffs. Then I'd dangle Richard Jefferson for Kevin Garnett, in a win-win for both teams/players. If the Nets want to start over, I'd lose Carter -- sign-n-trade, if possible -- and Kidd -- trade to the Kobe-pressured Lakers for coveted teen C Andrew Bynum -- and rebuild around Jefferson now, freeing cap room for LeBron later.)
Vick Watch: Congress getting involved in the dog-fighting scandal can't be good for anyone, least of all Vick or the NFL.
Clemens Watch: Throws 58 pitches for Yankees A Tampa. T-minus what... like 10 days?
MLB Stud: Lake Elsinore, a Padres affiliate, who routed Red Sox affiliate Lancaster, 30-0 in a minor-league game. Mercy rule!
Preakness: Anyone but Street Sense! (Actually, that's totally anti-Quickie to say that. The only way horse racing has any traction whatsoever is if there is Triple Crown momentum a la Funny Cide.)

phx did get screwed over but tough luck to them. I just hope the finals is not spurs pistons ugh or cavvs spurs ugh or pistons jazx ugh or jzz cavs ugh. so basically i see no fun possibilities.
Dan, You forgot to talk about the Sabres winning game 5 today, sending the series back to Ottawa only down a game. We Believe here in Buffalo!!!
Cmon Dan today is the FA cup final. It is the oldest cup competition in any sport. As much as I hate both teams involved, I have to root for ManYoo because of the glazer's owning them. I figure they should win 2-1 but you never know how Chelsea will react even if they are short a lot of men. Great week for soccer as wednesday is the Champions league final. Liverpool is where my heart is but any team with clarence seedorf knows all that guy does is win titles. Thank god for Directv.
here is something. both of the teams that you claim are "fun to watch" and "good for the NBA" (suns, GSW) were both elmininated from the playoffs. And this happenes every year. the team who run and dont play good defense lose every year once they go against a team with a solid defensive philosophy. Suns werent even close last night when the spurs wanted to tighten down on them.
so the east has been a snore fest for you? its too bad cavs and pistons is becoming a very good rivalry. LBJ the last superstar left and now he is 4 wins from the finals.
oh and thanks for the comment about NJ clearing cap room for LBJ to make a move to Jersey. Sorry charlie. If and IF lebron leaves cleveland in 3 years it wont be to play with andrew byumn and richard jeffesron...RJ will be around 100 then right? Jay Z or not..he isnt going to NJ
I hope the finals is Pistons/Spurs again so I can listen to everyone whine about what a horrible finals it is going to be. Oh no! The teams that have been the class of their conferences for 5+ years meeting for the championship. HORRIBLE.
Make that 24 Elsinor beers...
Will beat me to it, but I remember finding a mouse in a bottle of Elsinore, and when that happens, you're supposed to get, like, free beer, eh?
WTF with NBC leaving the hockey game, heading into overtime, for a stupid horse race? Horse racing is more important than playoff hockey, a possible elimination game? A sad day....
I think it's hysterical that every pundit has a different destination for LeBrnon in three years...
i am with hansenm, thank g-d i found versus ten seconds before the goal. I am not really a hcoeky fan but this game drew me in, and then nbc decided that people talking about horses (in a race where the only thing that matters is whether or not ss wins) was a better thing to telivise than a ot playoff game with a chance to go to the stanley cup. NBC, Nothing But Crap (i assume nobody has ever made that joke) (previous () are sarcastic)
Complete dumbass. You should be shot in the balls.
Remember back in July of 2005 when you wouldn't shut your piehole about LeBron leaving Cleveland when you said something along the lines of...
"Free agent LeBron James will see even less promise in New York than he does in Cleveland, WHICH HAS YET TO GET OUT OF THE SECOND ROUND, then sign with his good buddy Jay-Z and the new Brooklyn Nets. That prompts Larry Brown to become the new NETS coach."
Well, it's 2007, and GUESS WHO GOT OUT OF THE SECOND ROUND LAST NIGHT?
You're a Grade A P.O.S., Shanoff. If I ever met you, I'd but your cheek bone.
Worse part about NBC leaving the hockey game for the horse race is that the race didn't start for almost another 1 hr 15 mins. Pathetic that a major network would do that and the NHL should look into seeing if what NBC did violates their contract in any way. It would have been a good chance to expand hockey's fanbase even just a little. People turning into the pre-race crap might have left the game on if they played up that the game could end at any second.
Yeah and im sure LBJ would be jumping for the chance to play for the same coach that dogged him in the olympics. LBJ would leave all the money on the table to play for a coach that disrespected him om an international level.
every writer outside of cleveland ever since we won the draft lottery has been jumping at the bit to see LBJ in another uniform. "he is too big for cleveland, he wants more blah blah blah"
people immediately assume thateveryone wants to play in the bright lights in NY, but why? play for a terrible team with a bumbling owner and an inept GM? please
