Friday 11/23 (Very) Quickie

NFL: Packers own Lions on Thanksgiving... Cowboys off to Best.Start.Ever... Colts seem to right the ship...

CFB: USC crushes Arizona State, will win Pac-10 if Oregon loses 1 of last 2 and USC can actually beat UCLA this year. I think they'll get a BCS at-large spot with a win, even if Oregon gets the Rose...

MLB Hot Stove: Torii Hunter to Angels...

CBB: George Mason upsets K-State despite Beasley's 30 and 10...

NBA: Arenas out 3 months. Yes, I'm bummed, but is it possible the team is more balanced (if not better) without him? (Still getting Gil's new shoes, out today)...

How bad does that Stanford loss sting now for USC?

We are inching ever closer to a 2 loss team playing for the BCS title.

Sad to see Hunter leaving MN. I held out hope that the Twins would spend a little more to keep him. He was talented and always seemed like he was having fun. He will be missed here.

Now the question I raise, did this clear money to re-sign Santana or is it the begining of rebuilding around the younger guys?

Wizards better without Arenas? Guess we'll see, but I'm not so sure about that. You could compare the 2005 advance and taking Cleveland to the brink in '06 to last year's abysmal playoff appearance to gauge Arenas' worth to Washington. Gil's not just a great scorer but the team's leader in assists three years running.

b1b - The rebuilding has begun, Santana will be traded to someone before the season begins either NY(both), LA, Angels, Red Sox...

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving.

cmfost, I think you're right on, and would imagine something must be in the works to send either Gary Matthews or Garrett Anderson elsewhere.

If "Dan you are an umemployed pompous doochebag with a fat whore for a wife" is a compliment to you, there's more where that came from!

Well Dan, how are you going to still justify LSU being #1 and the SEC being dominate. On top of that, McFadden just jumped right over Tebow in the Heisman race. This weekend will only get worse when FSU wins tomorrow. But I doubt we will even see any comments on those topics as you never admit when you are wrong and only point out your random lucky predictions that are very few and far between.

How about McFadden as the new Heisman front-runner? Just wow.

Is it possible that the greatest conference in the history of everything is sending ZERO teams to the national title?!

GO BLUE

I would still put LSU ahead of Ohio St.

all I gotta say is McFadden can win the Heisman if WVU can play for the national title, thank you Arkansas!! Come on Mountaineers, I'll be in Morgantown tomorrow hoping we don't fall like the rest of the teams! Go WVU!

LSU ahead of Ohio State? On what grounds? They lost to 7-4 Kentucky and 8-4 Arkansas...at home...Ohio State lost to 9-3 Illinois at home...tell me why LSU is better ted hill?

Darren McFadden, WOW! He is the best college football player in the country. He should win the Heisman. So what his team has 4 losses. UF has 3 and Dan's been slurping Tebow and his Heisman hype all season. McFadden did something that Tebow could not. Make enough plays to beat LSU on the road.

Oh, and by the way, the greatest conference in college football now has ZERO teams with less than 2 losses and no one to play for the title. I know the SEC plays a brand of football so superior to any other conference that they exist on a plane all by themselves. Well, either that, or they are horribly over-rated, over-hyped, and their fans are delusional. Seriously, I think the SEC is a great conference but things run in cycles and they way their apologists (notably the head douchebag in charge of this blog) downgrade the other conferences you would think that every SEC team is unbelievable. I just think that with the 85 scholarship limit there are good players everywhere and there are other conferences just as good as the SEC.

Dan constantly talks about the beating his wife's Gators gave Ohio State last year but never mentions that in the other 2 Big 10/SEC bowl matchups that the Big 10 teams won both games. Of course he'll come on this blog on Monday (or tomorrow if his wife's team wins) and say that Arkansas beating LSU is a sign of how deep the SEC is. Yet, when Illinois beats OSU he says it just proves how bad the Big 10 is. It's a ridiculous argument and like most of Dan's, completely hypocritical.

One last thing, when OSU lost and Dan was chirping about it I came on her and posted that you shouldn't bury them yet because there is a lot of football to play. Sure enough, when this weekend is over, they'll be no worse than #3 in the BCS. If Oklahoma beats Mizzou or Kansas, the Buckeyes will play for the title again. It might happen anyhow if the voters look at the losses that WVU (South Florida) & OSU (Illinois) have and decide that OSU's is a "better" loss. In any case, I am not a fan of OSU at all (I'm a Penn State fan since I graduated from there- a novel concept to Dan)but I hope they play for the BCS title just to hear Dan whine about and downgrade it for the next month.
