Sunday 11/18 Quickie: Oh-No!-klahoma

Here's how the title contender list reads today:

Oklahoma

It's pretty simple, actually: If LSU wins out, they're in the BCS title game. The Kansas-Missouri winner, should they win the Big 12 title game, are in, too. That's the cleanest version.

If the KU-MU winner loses in the Big 12 title game (or LSU stumbles), the other spot(s) will either go to West Virginia or Ohio State.

Five teams for two spots (with that number dropping to 4 as soon as we have a KU-MU winner next Saturday). That's what we've come down to. All hail the Red Raiders.

How about the INDIANA HOOSIERS!! I know I will be ridiculed, but whooohooo! I went to IU from 95-00, and finally for the first time since I was 15 years old, they are gowing bowling! Play 13 for Coach Hep.

Oklahoma losing was the absolute WORST thing that could have happened to the Big XII. Had Oklahoma won out they were guaranteed a NC team, now they aren't. Dammit.

Dantonio has changed the atmosphere at MSU, fought back to win their last two games to get back to a bowl game. MSU had not won their last two games of the season since 1999. It is a small step, but a significant one. Hoyer, Ringer and Thomas all back on offense next season too.

zappatista, I wont ridicule you. After all the Indiana football program has been through, its good to see them have some success.

I guess Mike Leach got his "special" refs this game. GOOOOOO RAIDERS!!!!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=xXWdwW08ksA. Red Raiders fans are crazy, but they are some great people to tailgate with.

As a WVU fan...besides being the biggest Mountaineer fan in the land...Oklahoma is now my 2nd favorite team, followed by Arkansas and whoever plays LSU in the SEC title game. We definitely squeaked out another win last night, but this year, a win is a win for sure.

And even though Pat White just about lost the game for us last night, I'd argue that he was the most valuable player on any team right now...he is carrying us to victory game after game.

I'm really surprised at the casual dismisal of Arizona State from your list. I mean, I don't think they'll beat Southern Cal on Thanksgiving, but if they do, I'd think there's a pretty good chance they jump WVU and Ohio State (and a non-Big 12 champ Kansas).

As an SEC fan (UK) I would rather see an LSU vs WV title game. It would be the most intriguing matchup.

They will not be ranked in the Top 2 again this season. They lost -- at home -- to an unranked team, with a clear path to the BCS title game."

Guess who's baaack? OSU needed four out of five things to happen to back in it, and two of them happened this weekend. Dan was playing with the "Jump to Conclusions" map a little too prematurely.

@dave

I totally agree. If ASU wins out, I think they have the strongest argument to get into the NC game. But that's a big if. I personally think LSU will stumble again in the next 2 games. Who the hell knows, though? I used to hate the idea of a playoff for college football, but this year...it makes so much sense.

Once again tell me why WVU is ranked ahead of OSU?

Illinois > USF.

maher,

don't you know that college FB is "What have you done for me lately?"

Wow..a shanoff post that doesn't drool over the Florida Tebows.

Well if Dan won't slurp Tebow I guess I will. You gotta admit what he is doing this year is pretty damn impressive. Sure he is a product of a system but you have to admit they have a pretty fun offense to watch. Maybe he won't get 30 rushing td's like i said the other day but he has to will definitely break the record for most td's by a qb in a season. Sure the gators are going to not be playing anywhere good this year but at least I now get why fans travel halfway across the country to see their team in a crappy bowl. I am rooting for the Outback or Citrus just so I can go back to Florida for a week or so. Speaking of which, I will be at the game at the girls school up north on Saturday. We haven't won four in a row vs FSU since 81-86. Even if FSU sucks this game will be brutal.

It was a bad weekend to be a QB on a top 5 team. See: Oregon, Oklahoma.

Right, I forgot about the TOUGHIES WVU played:

W Mich, Marshall, Syracuse...

Last I checked the BCS supposedly dropped SOS. Computers say we're tied at 3rd, I will take non-biased cybernetic protolifeforms over Mark May and Lou Holtz any day.
