will u still be working with ESPN?

Yes, I think we're all interested to know why it ended and what you'll be doing! We look forward to it-

Fun run on the Quickie, but lookin' forward to seeing you continue that spirit here on the web. BEST. BLOG. EVER!

Anonymous said...

i will bookmark this site and check it every morning, like i did the daily quickie. i loved the daily quickie, to which my son would tell me, -- then why don't you marry it?

Anonymous said...

Why did the Quickie end? It was one of the best things on ESPN.com.

Anonymous said...

dude - im here - keep it up - dkmbnyc

Yes! I can still get my Shanoff fix.

Anonymous said...

Best of luck Dan. If your blog is anything like your writing on ESPN, well, I'll still come read ya again ;-)

Awesome! Not quite the MQ, but still great...

please still post at 9 a.m. I need my morning recap!

Anonymous said...

Hooray. Everyone keep your locations so we know the regulars still.

Anonymous said...

Add me to the list of people wondering if you can say here why the Quickie is no longer being published. If Paul Shirley can criticize ESPN on his myspace, surely you can divulge some (classified?) information here. Thanks for the great work over the years.

Anonymous said...

Can we get some inside scoop?

it was the best column on espn, doesn't make any sense to stop.

your choice or theirs?

Bookmarked and linked to my own blog. Hope the mini-retirement treats you well, and can't wait to read what's next!

Anonymous said...

I'll miss the Quickie terribly. Can we get another chat room going that is non-ESPN sanctioned?

Anonymous said...

Glad to know you are still writing. The Morning Quickie was the best part of my sports day.

Anonymous said...

dan, it's going to be sad not to have the DQ/MQ combo in the morning, but i hope you're moving onto bigger and better things.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Dan, the MQ/DQ had a great run, and I was glad to be a very small part of it. Look forward to you get me pissed off again through your blog.

Anonymous said...

Dan, Removing the Quickie from my bookmarks almost made me cry. then i realized it was a piece of the orange i was peeling. "pulp can move baby!". i'll be keeping tabs here to check your opinion on things...i definitely value it. thanks.

Anonymous said...

It was a great run - I looked forward to reading the Daily Quickie everyday.

So why is it ending?

Big D said...

Will miss you on Page 2, but I'm glad you'll still be on here. Will link you shortly.

Gee, that didn't take long. Over /under on how many people will come HERE tomorrow at 9AM? I say 50.

DEFINITELY OVER 50

Thank goodness for this blog. I read the Daily Quickie every day a few minutes after I wake up. I don't know what I would've done without a replacement.

Anonymous said...

Did ESPN give you the axe? It sucks if they did. I used to print out the quickie and a few other articles for my daily shit break. Now what am I going to wipe my ass with? Ok, just kidding; good luck your article kept my sanity here at work.

Glad you're still writing. Will check in just like everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Dan -
Thanks for being part of my morning routine! I really hope that we can find out why it ended! In my opinion it was the Best. Column. Ever.
And honestly, the Quickie should have been the headliner of Page 2.

Ruby K said...

Glad to hear you're still out there.

I'd also like to know why the Daily Quickie is over as I really looked forward to it each morning!

Anonymous said...

after deleting the quickie from my del.icio.us page, it was nice to able to replace it with this.

Anonymous said...

Is twenty-six minutes too soon to be going into MQ withdrawal? Here's hoping the blog will be the Best. Methadone. Ever.

Anonymous said...

after removing the quickie from my del.icio.us page, it was nice to be able to replace it with this. i don't know where i would've gotten my anti-Atlanta coverage without it.

Anonymous said...

Thank God, now are yo still allowed to write as you did on ESPN? Or are thier contract issues? and exactly why did they discontinue the Daily Quickie, along with my cup of Joe in the Morning, The Quikie was key to get me going. Some people had thier 10:00 (EST) smoke break, I had my Quikie break....

The over/under for people here tomorrow should be 500, not 50.

Don't go!!! please!!! My mornings will never be the same!

David Ortiz, make room!!! I think my heart is broke as well!!! :-(

Dan,

Your Daily Quickie has been a Must-Read of mine from Day 1. While I am sad that I won't have my daily digest of sport news to get me through my day...I am thankful of being one of the thousands/millions who tuned in every day to be a part of Instant History.

Thanks again!!!

Glad to see you are here and out of the strictures of ESPN. I am looking forward to reading you again!

Anonymous said...

The DQ just plain old rocked! Best condensed daily sports digest out there. Topical, witty, funny, a great daily treat.

ESPN is stupid for letting it end for whatever reason. Hope to see the quickie spirit live on here.

Anonymous said...

Hope to see you writing often, Dan. BTW, I couldn't resist doing up my name with location DQ style.

The Quickie is dead, Long Live the quickie!

Anonymous said...

I'm glad you'll be writing away from ESPN, perhaps now you'll stop all of the whoring for ESPN and ABC programming that was really the biggest weakness of your column.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Dan.

Anonymous said...

Here is something to talk about- why is Notre Dame ranked so high?

They didn't beat a SINGLE RANKED TEAM last year.

Anonymous said...

So what happened? To get back Easterbrook they had to fire you??? What is going on with Page 2?!? Do they not realize that you kept everything even, every other writer had thier biases and sports love but you were like the Daily News telling you all the goings on in sports. ESPN YOU ARE FOOLS!!1

Anonymous said...

Can't believe the ride is over!

I loved reading the DQ every morning, and agreeing/disagreeing with your views. It was one of the high points of my day. So sad to see it's gone, but it does leave me with a lot of questions that the other readers have posed...

What on earth happened? Not wanting to pry, but everyone who's addicted to your column wouldn't mind some closure if possible. :)

Regardless, it'll be nice to check in and read your words here. (And avoid extra stories about T.O. at the same time... oh wait, that may not be possible anywhere on this planet... Noooooooooooooo.....)

Anonymous said...

It really is depressing to know that the Quickie is no more. Every day at work started with it and I will truly miss it. However, it is great to be here and I hope you will continue updating this blog with your great writing.

Thank you for the columns. Your daily publication made the workday mornings bearable and entertaining. Now I have no reason for my daily visit to espn.com, because the 5 other things I am allowed to read on the site without my 'insider' status hold no interest to me. The broad coverage of everything sports along with your quick wit made for a great column. I look forward to reading you here.

at the time i started reading the comments here, there were 95, i can only imagine it's pushing 200 here fifteen minutes later. i echo most everyone else's thoughts, and am eagerly awaiting the answer to "why?"

Seriously, I stopped reading the DQ a couple of years ago. How can there be this many people who are sports fans who actually like this guy's take on sports? It is what's wrong with ESPN, attaching instant historical significance, BEST.EVER. nonsense, why some team has ZERO CHANCE EVER and yet they win that night, forcing opinion as fact. Choosing a team because of his wife. (or maybe because they are the BEST BASKETBALL TEAM EVER (this year)) I'm so glad you are regulated to this anonymous world of blogging. the daily quickie. the dq! what a great idea! all the class of stand-up banging a whore behind the bowling alley in a futile battle against whiskey dick, plus that certain je ne sais quoi that is dairy queen. how can this end? skip and scoop and whitlock are sucking enough as they can, they can't pick up the slack. is albom free?
