Sunday Open-All-Day Post

If my family knew I was posting from vacation, I'd be in trouble. Still: At the very least, comment if you want to on the top sports stories of yesterday and today. (Sox-Yanks, other MLB, Deng-Wade, T-Mac, other NBA, NFL Draft ramp-up, more!)

Let's see. Alabama fires crappy coach...

Alabama seemingly muffs hire of Richrod and all seems bad in Tide nation...

Alabama hires noted liar (welcome to the club of human beings, nick) to be football coach. ESPN has a heart attack...

Schrutebag calls people in the south "tornado bait", then has a stroke...

Tide nation is excited again, to the point where it almost wants to kill itself...

Tide nation shows it's excitment by sending over 92,000 of it's members to a glorified game of two-hand touch...

Roll f&%!ing Tide!!!

Dan is a big risktaker. I also heard that he once tip toed sown the stairs after his parents were asleep and took a cookie. True story.

Detroit vs. Calgary, Game 6 tonight. Should be an entertaining one after the "passionate" ending yesterday.

The Bulls rule the universe.

That is all.

I tell you what: I was pretty pissed with Fox's Saturday Baseball coverage yesterday. I'm in Minneapolis and the Cubs-Cards game was telecast here. I'm a Cubs fan so I was obviously happy with that. Then, in the middle of Derrek Lee's at bat, they switch to a split screen the the Yanks-Sox game with that game's announcers for A-Rod's at bat in some random inning with nobody on base. It was completely pointless. There was no need especially when the Cubs' best hitter is at the plate. Fox blows.

I wonder who is on the nationally televised baseball game today? (repeat question every day, same answer)

Did any one see the free UFC broadcast last night? Oh my, Cro Cop got KO'd by a right kick to the head from Gabriel Gonzaga and Cro Cop instantly went out before landing on the canvas.

Today is the day, the first playoff game in 13 years for my Golden State Warriors! GSW matches up with the Mavs, so expect fireworks!

Who'd expect my Giants to win 1-0 on a Bonds HR with Zito pitching?

My Sharks are at home resting and waiting to see who their next opponent will be. In the NHL, they re-seed the remaining teams, if you're unfamiliar with the process. Doesn't that add an extra excitement to the already exciting NHL playoffs. I want Vancouver to win because the Sharks haven't played the Ducks very well, this season, with a 3-5 record.

I completely agree Andy I hate fox's baseball coverage. I'm a cub fan too outside of Pittsburgh for me (on the west side) and I get 3 fox channels at home (from nyc, from la, and from pittsburgh) and all three of them was airing the yankees and red sox game

i hate joe buck and tim mccarver

by the way penn state had a good showing at the blue and white game and hopefully they can do some damage this year; they had an 800 person block of people wearing orange and maroon for the va tech logo in the stands and 1000's of other fans wore the colors

I agree Andy. Im a Sox fan and I was outraged when they announced to us that the viewers from the Cubs/Cards game were not tuned in for A Rods at bat im thinking..... why the hell is a possible 13th HR of the season so important that u interupt another game.

I wish I could say something relevant about sports, but my stint in Osaka has deprived me of most opportunities to watch anything.

However, if you ever wanted to know where Esteban Yan wound up... Osaka's Hanshin Tigers. Also, Ben Sheets' older brother, Andy, plays for the team.

question about tv showing games, does anyone else really hate that courtside angle that they do at nba games. because it is not like any view anywhere in a stadium so it is very disconcerting.

Johnny b said...

oh yes dr. doom; i hate it when they switch to that view; it just makes it harder to see the play unfold

Red Sox just donged 4 consecutive homers last inning off of the Yank's fill-in Wright... all with 2 outs. That was about one of the coolest moments I have watched in sports.

WARRIORS!

Man!, that was thrilling. As a road team, they did what every road team minimally wants to do, which is to come away with a split. But, I'll take 2.

I can't wait until Friday. The house is going to be JUMPIN'!

The only complaint that I have is to stop Harris' layups.

The haters won't care, but that was a hell of a series this weekend in Boston. Especially tonight's game! Wow!
