Saturday 11/03 (Very) Quickie

Tons of college football to settle in for...

NBA: KG leads Celtics' Big Three to a season-opening win over Wiz. They're for real. More stars: Hey, looks like the Hawks' preseason wasn't a fluke! And how about Chris Kaman! And, of course, LeBron's 45, which doesn't intrigue me nearly as much as those first two.

Sonics owner taking the team to Oklahoma: Not unexpeccted, but still a punch in the stomach for Sonics fans in the Pacific Northwest, and any NBA fan that appreciates the great basketball fandom in Seattle. (No offense to Oklahoma City NBA fans: The last two seasons, I think they were the NBA Fans of the Year in a runaway. They showed they deserve a team. And in Big 12 country, Kevin Durant will get a nice reception.)

UNC tops AP College Hoops Top 25: Not surprising, but I don't think they'll win the national title. I would pick UCLA, Georgetown and Tennessee all ahead of the Heels to win it all.

Yankees keep Bobby Abreu: Without A-Rod, they'll need him.

A-Rod Watch: Boras wanted Yankees to pay $350M...minimum: Talk about managing expectations.

At work on a Saturday. Freaking Weak.

Anyway, nice debut from the C's last night. Garnett is an animal on the boards, good god. Fun to see Arenas have such a horrible game too.

Just came on to show that I will not hide. Yes, we lost to Grand Valley State. Thank God it was an exhibition game!

Nobody in the NBA can be labeled "legit" until at least January. And A-Rod? Dear lord. $350M? Really? After insurance costs and other peripherals are figured in this would be the worst business deal of all time. Is it even possible for one player in baseball to increase your bottom line by the $45-50M a year that it would take to just break even on that kind of investment? I don't think so. That kind of yearly payout made sense to Michael Jordan in his prime, but for Alex Rodriguez? This one, not so much.

I bet that's coming. I think Dan's thought process is, if OSU beat them, they can't be that good...so I say he keeps it up till/if someone beats Ohio State then claims they lost to the only good team they played.

When is UF going to play someone?

I was so afraid that Dan picking Kansas to actually win this week for the first time was going to jinx us, but dammit! Rock Chalk! Call Mangino an XXXXL Belichick but holy hell 76-39 over Nebraka makes me feel like I need to get to church because hell has just frozen over...ROCK CHALK, JAYHAWK!!!

Emma did the Jayhawks run up the score. No, they played to win the game and played until the game ended.

Is Notre Dame really this bad?

CMFost said...

As a Buckeye fan, I really hope the next coach at Michigan is Les Miles (whenever that time comes) because he's exactly the kind of cotton-mouthed, fidgety guy that Tressel will own.

Also, he makes so many questionable coaching decisions that you can almost count on him blowing at least one game every year. 4th and 1 and he calls that weird o-line shift that is fundamentally a penalty? Dumb.

Also while I'm piling on, LSU's QB is no good and they have 14 penalties through 3 1/2 quarters.

We're really watching the class of the SEC tonight and a national title contender?

Yes, I know what has happened the last part of the LSU game, but I still stand by my comments.
