And the new hotness is...Quickish!
It's OK...He was insured. What nobody is noticing was how the Bears can't do anything once they get in the red zone. They can't play the Packers 15 more times either.
HAHA that is hilarious. But really, how could you be stupid enough to not think this Bears defense didn't have a chance to pitch a shutout?
Could it be because the Packers hadn't been shut out in 15 years, so the odds were pretty good that the Bears wouldn't do it?
Worst. Deal. Ever? One of the sponsors of Northern Illinois University's football team is offering a million dollars to a randomly-drawn fan at each home game if the Huskies return a kickoff for a touchdown at home. When you read the fine print, you'll note that it only applies to the opening kickoff, not just any kickoff.Given that NIU has only run one opening kickoff back for a TD at home in over 100 years, and given that Coach Joe Novak routinely defers when he wins the coin toss, and you have six people who are getting their hopes up this year for nothing. Why?Ain't. Gonna. Happen.
Um.... about 99% of coaches normally defer to the 2nd half when they win the coin toss. Maybe there's a chance that NIU will lose the coin toss and the other coach will defer...
this story has been out for what 8 hours already and its just now showing up here?

Maybe there's a chance that NIU will lose the coin toss and the other coach will defer...I wouldn't say 99% ... most NFL coaches take the opening kickoff.Besides, we use a two-headed coin here at NIU ... and we still found a way to lose to Ohio University last week ... :)Brien
this story has been out for what 8 hours already and its just now showing up here? So, now Dan is supposed to have an AP ticker in his living room?If you're just gonna complain every time Dan posts a story or opinion of any kind ... why the hell are you visiting his blog?If it's just to stir things up, you might want to re-examine your life ... you have issues that only professional assistance can help you out with.Brien
my buddy went to radford college and he claims that since it was his schools first yr of football papa johns offered a dollar off a pizza for every touchdown scored during a win. Needless to say they lost all but one game against the school for the deaf dumb and blind. Supposedly the pizzas cost roughly 50 cents and papa johns made you come pick them up since they lost money on deliveries. I remember college well and nothing was better than a cheap pizza. So I guess the point is that it all depends on your mindset. Dan next time your in gainesville try the university location of five star they sometimes offer discounts after gator wins and you can still get a large one topping delivered for under six bucks now thats a good deal.
What do you think of the Jerry Porter thing, Dan?Laughing and pumping your fist on the sideline as your team's quarterback gets sacked for the SEVENTH time is pretty much a dick move, even if they are punishing Porter by not dressing him for a game.
That's so awesome.
"I wouldn't say 99% ... most NFL coaches take the opening kickoff."Actually 100% of coaches in the NFL choose to receive if they win the coin toss. In the NFL when you win the toss you get the choice of choosing which goal you want to defend or if you want to receive or kick then the other team gets to choose the other one. At the second half the team that lost the flip gets the first choice. So if you choose to kick to start off the game then the other team will just choose to receive in the second half.
anyone who spells their name Brien is a fag.Did you think that up all by yourself? You're up way past your bedtime ... let your daddy have his keyboard and mouse back and get to bed, young man.You know how cranky you get when you don't get enough sleep.Brien
everyone is missing the point here. chicago bears football is the best kind out there. plain and simple.
As Boscolicious said, he was insured so he didn't lose anything on it other than the insurance premium, plus it doesn't even compare to the "free marketing" he got from it. It was the best thing that could have happened to him.
