This Week's CFB BlogPoll Ballot, Version 1

Dan, while I respect your decision to rail against the human pollsters who are sure to slurp some Paterno this week, I'd ask you to look at your own logic (even keeping with the instant history meme).

Last week's #3 beats last week's #11 (another team you steadfastly refuse to "over-rate") on the road.

Last week's #8 beat's last week's #18 (a team now dropped out of your top 25) on the road.

Last week's #8 passes last week's #3 in this week's rankings. Yes, the Big 12 keeps looking tougher, and yes, the Big 10 is weaker. But that was a known commodity last week, too.

It just seems silly to let your prediction of the msm's JoePa-fest (even though there's good odds you're right) usurp your own logic. On the other hand, this week's TT ranking means nothing with UT on the horizon.

Penn State is good, maybe even elite, but I don't think anybody outside of the Big 10 is saying they deserve a shot at the championship right now, and I'm not sure there's much of anything they can do about it with the rest of their schedule. I'm thinking Penn State and USC would make for a good Rose Bowl, if they both take care of business, and that is that.

How much does it suck to be Texas? You get 1, 11, 7, and now whatever Texas Tech ends up with, right in a row. It's schedules like that that make me think conference championships aren't that necessary, cause if Texas can survive that, they can take anything.

I'm sick of hearing how weak the big ten is. they are probably the number 3 BCS conference. definitely better than the Big East and ACC, and marginally better than the Pac10 (which is extremely weak outside of USC). Penn State deserves to win play in the championship if they go undefeated. And since the BCS rankings are one third (or whatever) human and the rest computer, i have faith that the unbiased results of computer analysis will come through in the end.

Does your ranking of Georgia over Florida indicate that you think Georgia will beat Florida next week? I sure hope not. Florida has looked a lot stronger since their loss to Ole Miss. In the last 3 games, Florida has rushed for 757 yards. Georgia got gashed by LSU. If Florida takes care of the ball, they should win easily.

Really?
In case you haven't noticed, Penn State just beat Ohio State on the road. They're easily the #3 team in the nation. Why drop them one after the #9 team in Columbus? I don't get it.

Go Gophers!

Shanoff you are an absolute clown. I was upset when ESPN let you go but maybe they realized then what i am realizing now. You are a narrow minded jerk who uses your forum to promote your favorites (ie Flordia).

I will give you Ohio State got destroyed AT USC. But they were without Wells and Pryor was sharing time. PSU went into the horsehoe, came back in the 4th quarter and won and all you have is negatvity. Give PSU the credit they deserve. You have been against them all year and when tney finally win a game that would rate on your credit worthiness scale you bash them. I am very close to never reading another one of your blogs ever again.

wow, after reading this blogpoll and the rationalization you posted, i'm beginning to wonder what the source of yr animosity towards penn state is. like i said in another comment, you cannot hold ohio state's monumental failures in the last two title games against penn state.

after reading yr comments on this game, i'm wondering what the hell penn state could have done to impress you. if it had been a blow-out, i'm guessing yr response would have been to a) compare it to the USC game and find PSU deficient in some way and b) proclaim that OSU's defense is horrible.

it's pretty clear that penn state can't win with you, no matter what. you compare USC's and penn state's games against ohio state (even thought wells didn't play against USC), but declare the games against oregon state to be a bogus comparison because the pac-10 is awful. i guess you can have it both ways, since this is yr blog, but as a reader who has always thought of you as a "fair" sportswriter, this is really beginning to stink.

if i follow yr "logic", there are only two conferences this year that are worthy of the national championship game. what a narrow view of the game.
