Who will be the hero? Who will be the goat? Track the game right here with your fellow fans: Pre-game, in-game, post-game. Be the first to offer the analysis. Have at it!
The Mets call Al Leiter to come back from game analysis to pitch after the injury bug takes out both Ollie's, Heilman, Traschel, and Glavine in the first 2 innings.
Fearing a general apathy from fans about tonights game, Fox has asked the Mets and Cards to pitch Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson, respectively. Also, all position players are to be replaced by Yankees and Red Sox. Except David Eckstein. People like him for some reason.
Easy--if they perform like they have throughout the series, McCarver and Buck beat Luis Gonzalez to every chance to speak. Thus, we all lose.
(Seriously, he seems to disappear for innings at a time. The #1 announcing team, cough, should throw him a bone once in awhile instead of blabbing between every pitch.)
Jeez Louise... Suppan doesn't really pitch worth a damn away from Busch and Perez is, well, Perez. This one could go either way but something tells me Perez won't suck and the Mets bats come to life. Can't wait to watch the Tigers batter either one of these NL patsies.
Heard this one? "Somewhere in the Bronx a six year old is wondering if the Yankees will ever win a World Series in his lifetime". Letterman, I think. Perez looked sharp in the 1st and Wright actually got an RBI. Good start for the ol' Mets-tropolitans.
And hand it to the commentating crew. It was a heck of a catch, and they should go ga-ga over it, but someone, PLEASE, point out that Edmonds just made a HUGE mental error in being somewhere near 3rd on a fly ball.
You know, Game 7's are supposed to be exciting. However, when I think of the probability that whoever wins this game is just going to get slaughtered by the Tigers, then it doesn't seem so exciting anymore.
in the last inning, mccarver has referred to "eddie" chavez and "chris" floyd ... wish buck would start calling him "tom" mccarver ... why is this guy still announcing games?
Wainwright gutted it up! Facing Beltran, he trusted his stuff and struck the guy out. Preytty strong nerves for a rookie closer. The Tigers are gonna eat him alive. Detroit in 5.
Beltran. I said to my wife just before that pitch, "HU-UGE hanging curve, frozen pizza, K." I kid you not. Good thing the Astros got rid of him. Coincidence that he still hasn't been to the Series?
The difference in the game: Bottom of the 8th, one one, one out, David Wright takes ball four about five inches off the plate. Instead, the ump calls it a strike and Wright ends up making an out. Top of the 9th, Rolen takes a pitch four inches off the plate on what would've been strike three. Instead, the ump calls that a ball. Rolen singles and the destruction begins.
Can someone PLEASE ask McCarver to accuse Joe Buck of stealing his wallet? "Chris" Floyd? "Eddie" Chavez? Bottom of the 9th, Floyd batting... Joe Buck: Because Floyd can't run, any ground ball is a double-play threat. 10-seconds later: Tim McCarver: Another thing: if Floyd hits it hard at someone, it's a double play because he can't run.
I think for one of the games next week I need to watch the game of FOX but listen to ESPN Radio. I heard a little bit of Tim Kurkjian tonight and he sounded pretty good.

After 2.1 ineffective IP from Perez, the Mets insert Brian Urlacher who throws 6 innings of 2-hit ball en route to a NY win.

I'm rooting for the Cards tonight, but whoever wins, I'm rooting against a sweep by the Tigers. I don't want a 3 straight drumming by the AL.
How funny is that, the only AL team to not win the World Series in the last 5 years.... is the YANKS....twice. hehe.
This just in, The Yankees have switched to the NL...
Not that a switch to the NL would help since they've lost on the AL side in 4 of the last 5 years. And only Aaron Bleepin' Boone sent them on in '03.

Both Suppan and Perez look hitable tonight.
The Fibonacci sequence! Nice.
yeah, i was one of those 1000 people with a da vinci code puzzle blog
Man, these pitchers are horrible. Why couldn't we have gotten more effective pitchers for a Game 7?!?
Oh, and in case you didn't know, I was being sarcastic!
Amazing job by Perez to escape the 5th. Pujols pops out with two on?!?!?!
ENDY CHAVEZ FOR MVP!!!!! WOW!
Catch. Of. The. Year.

GREAT job by Suppan... I didn't think this would in any way be a pitching duel. Helluva game 7.
I love the photo of Chavez' catch in front of the 'The Strength to Be There' sign on ESPN. I'm making it my desktop at work tomorrow, win or lose.
AARRGGHH!!
Yadier Freakin' Molina.
Go figure.
Nice job hitting, Scottie Rolen. Give LaRussa the finger for the rest of us.
Ok Mets. Valentin and Chavez get on base, and then Julio Franco hits a 3-run HR for the win. I can feel it.
Cliff Floyd could work too. LETS GO METS!
Or Jose Reyes. I'm really not picky. (That was one sweet breaking ball to nail Floyd)

Bottom 9, 2 out, bases loaded, game 7 of the NLCS. Can you get any more cliched then this?
Did Beltran just channel A-Rod or what?
Damn
Ah well. Back to football.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
Cards! Cards! Cards!
Eat it, Dan!

I don't understand all these complaints about McCarver. We know he sucks, why is anyone watching the game off of mute?
I was unaffiliated until that catch. After that I was rooting pretty hard for the Mets so that play wouldn't get forgotten in a week. Oh well...

Wow, talk about a late night at the WWL ... not only do they have Simmons' Game 7 Diary up, they even put up a new Page 2 line.
What a great game. this is why it's great to be a baseball fan.
To avoid a choke, blame the ump?
Difference was the Mets getting two hits in the first...and two in the ninth. That, and Heilman hanging a changeup.
Is Beltran still frozen at the plate?
