Drop your Mets-Dodgers (and, later, Yankees-Tigers) live-commenting right here. It's an NYC two-fer!
(If you're in NYC and not in a trance watching the Yankees, please feel free to drop by Happy Ending at 302 Broome St. tonight starting at 8 for my monthly sports reading series.)

Did the Mets just get two players out at home?!? Can someone translate Gamecast-to-English?
Just speculation for me too, I'm tracking gamecast, but it seems like two guys got thrown out at home.
Only a team I bet money on could manage to put five straight batters on base but get only one run scored out of it...
If anyone needs a ride, I was thinking about renting a VW minivan if there's enough of us. I can ask Mrs Quickie to pack some samiches. Let me see a show of hands on who's in for pooling a ride? Anyone up? Holla now so I can make reservations.
Methinks we have another Faux Shanoff
Former ESPN Sportscenter Anchor John Maine (or was that Kenny Mayne?) has thrown 70 pitches in 4 innings.
Meanwhile we all know that Derek Lowe gets better as the game goes on - the Mets are hanging around but they need to score soon.
Yeah I called that one out. We've got a ballgame now.
I'll see you tonight, Dan. Glad you are giving us an excuse not to watch the Yanks :-)
Does Kenny Lofton hold some kind of record, b/c I swear I've watched him play for about 12 different playoff teams.
I see Grady Little hasn't lost his touch with using the starter way past his point of effectiveness. Pull Lowe for christ's sake.
Penny out of the pen? What is Little trying to do? Brutal.
Watch this Grand Slam Delgado is about to hit
NY is 2-0 in the playoffs so far. Just 12 more wins for the two teams and we have a subway series.
A NYC cabdriver wearing a Mets hat said it best, "I see some guy with a Yankees hat and say, the Yankees suck!. He then says the Mets suck. This is great!"
Gotta love baseball!
Anyone find it off-base that Mets play-by-play man Gary Thorne, and former GM Steve Phillips called this game? Maybe I'm just a little old-fashioned, but I like my announcers to at least 'appear' impartial...
I don't know, it's not like Steve Phillips left the Mets on good terms (iirc, he was canned).
Of course, nothing tops Joe Buck and Tim McCarver calling a Cardinals game.
Rain, rain, go away. Come again some other day.
Like some day that doesn't involve playoff baseball.
wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Wait.
Did anyone watch Sports Center and the interviews they were doing around Tori Hunter's locker? Was that a bottle of liquor on the top shelf? And if so, does that explain the botched play?
Maybe the play explains the bottle of liquor. (precourt.blogspot.com)
something I realized while on the 3AM train back up north today...
Because of the rainout, there's no travel day for the Yankees/Tigers series.
I'm now going to be subjected to 3 days of prolonged torture... i.e. Tim McCarver.
Just shoot me now.
