Going to miss most of the tailgate today, as I'm heading down to Charlotte in a bit. I'll get some pics.

Who had Vince Young in the "who will start first" pool.

I certainly didn't. Then again, I do know that Leinart is coming in after Warner fumbles two more times (probably in the first half).

I think I'm in far too many ESPN leagues. I takes me 2 hrs to set rosters...

The cynic in me feels that they should just start a league where all PEDs are allowed. Just like that old SNL skit where the weightlifter tries to lift an ungodly amount of weight and his arms fall off. Good stuff.

Yeah a professional juiced league woul dbe great for baseball and football. I nominate brian bosworth and Jose Canseco as the respective commisioners. How about you get suspended if you have too little drugs in your system. I still think that all pro leagues should overlook pot though. The only performance it probably enhances is on Madden.

How about the Titan's D-line giving Drew Bledsoe about 15 seconds in the pocket to pick them apart right now? If Jeff Fisher can't get some pressure it's gonna be a long day in the Music City

How about Haynesworth stepping on that Dallas O-lineman's face after his helmet came off on the goal line? That seemed like a pretty serious cheap shot.

Also how about the J-E-T-S playing possessed right now against the Colts.

Chargers punter Marcus Scifres had a 75 yard punt moments ago (and not one of those where the returner lets it go and it bounces down the field). How about some dap for that?

So what, if Clemens is juiced. We're watching juiced players every Sunday and there isn't any discussion on that!

I will laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh if the Saints end up winning this game. DeShaun Foster should have laid down as soon as he got the 1st down, and ended the game right there. Scoring that TD actually gave the Saints life because they get the ball back with 1:35 and can onside kick it to get the ball back.

FreKy J said...

The Panthers get lucky. DeShaun Foster almost cost them the game by not laying down. When given the choice of end the game now as is or get some points but give the ball to the other team. End the game NOW.

Was that an earthquake that I just felt or was that New Orleans and San Diego falling atop in the rankings?

Sheldiz said...

holy sh-t.... the ravens can not keep winning like this. my nerves can't handle it.

now... if only our 2 minute offense could become our 60 minute offense... we'd be set.

Every year I have to listen about how great San Diego is, and every year I watch them suffer crushing defeats in big games. Can we please stop talking about them?

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss the dual-use stadiums that used to be so prevalent? I think only Miami and Oakland feature teams traversing across baseball infields. I think childhood memories of old Muni Stadium hold a special place in my heart. God bless the original (and far superior) Dawg Pound.

Okay Dan, riddle me this....

That mega-lateral play by the Jets...who's that #16 backup QB who had the lateral toward the end of the play....he was actually down before he got rid of the ball, and so if the Jets had scored, the play would have been reviewed and the Colts would have won anyways.

Here's my real question....the Colt that grabbed the last lateral, and stumbled....if he had run that all the way back for a touchdown, then Indy woulda been up 9 with a chance to kick a spread-beating extra point. Would anyone upstairs have thought to review the play for that Jets lateral guy being down, since it wouldn't help the Jets win anyway? Would they have the spread in mind?

Hmmmm!!!

How about the Tigers back, back, backing their way in to the Wild Card. Nice move. Your prize? The Yanks in the Bronx. Way to go from the far best to mediocre.

can someone tell me how a kid from my high school who wasn't good enough to play d1 college ball (walked onto OSU and then left for N.Iowa when told he wouldn't get any PT) is tearing up the NFL and out dueling Roy Williams for Kitna's love?

Maher said...

would they (indy) have been allowed to kick the PAT? I know that a few years ago Vinateri ran that one in for 2 with 0:00 on the clock when the other team didn't bother to have players on the field, and I thought the NFL changed the rules after that?

Leave it to the Fudgies to make Oakland look alive.

Why doesn't Fox have a 4 o'clock game today!!!!?????

Jen said...

Ok, TD pass to K2. Fudgies are only down by 4....they can salvage this, right!?

MoL said...

Jen, how about that catch by JJ?
This Frye guy (ha!) might be the real deal.

Nobody has even mentioned the fact that the Patriots have gone into Cincinnati and absolutely OWNED the Bengals.

Troy Brown has been playing D-back against the great Bengal wideouts and still they've only put up 13.

Thoughts from the Panthers-Saints game:

Reggie Bush looked like a rookie out there. Dropped passes, runs for negative yards, returns for negative yards.

The first Saints TD never should've happened. 4th down, pass incomplete, defender called for pass interference even though he didn't touch the receiver until after the receiver had touched the ball. The crowd let the refs have it for several plays after that.

Someone mentioned DeShaun Foster should've gone down. Earlier that drive, one of the RBs--don't remember if it was Foster or Maroney--fell down rather than go out of bounds (and gain a few more yards that weren't necessary since they already had a first down). Very nice move. As for TD, you always take the points if it's going to get you two scores up on an opponent. At some point you have to expect your defense to do some crunch-time work.

The John Fox replay challenge was high-larious. Ran out on the field, almost brained a ref with the flag.

One more thing(tm): Sean Payton was almost Herm Edwards-esque with his timeouts at the end of the game. Wasted one on a challenge that was pretty meaningless (if the challenge had gone through, Carolina would've had 3rd and 2 rather than 1st and 10 -- not really worth risking a Timeout for a couple yards). Also, they called a timeout at 2:01, which I thought was insane. You're basically telling Carolina: go ahead and throw the ball and gain big yardage on us while we're defending the run. Fortunately for the Saints, the Panthers were so perplexed by the timeout that they stuck with a run.

Christian Thoma said...

Whoops, did I say Maroney? I meant DeAngelo. Sheesh.

Jen said...

Morph~ GREAT catch by JJ! Thank goodness the Fudgies held on...they were trying so hard to give it away!

Finally, a win.

Brian in Oxford, They wouldn't have kicked the extra point, because it wouldn't have mattered to the outcome of the game. Kinda like how they don't kick the extra point in OT if a team scores a touchdown. The clock is at zero, the game is over. no reason to kick the point.

Is anyone else sick of the BS doubleheader rule that leaves you stuck with only one game at 1 or 4 depending on the week?

I can't wait for the NFL network to start stealing games starting @ thanksgiving. ;(

Definitely hate the doubleheader rule. I don't know what games were shown in your area, but we had the colts-Jets game, which was pretty good, and Dallas-Tenn which wasn't, then at 4 we only had the Pats game obviously. Once that one became a laugher, it would have been nice to turn onto a more competitive game. You shouldn't have to subscribe to directv to be able to watch 2 different games.
